West Seattle

West Seattle is a vibrant collection of neighborhoods located just across the Duwamish River from downtown Seattle. This area, which includes the Delridge and Southwest districts, offers a unique mix of urban charm and natural beauty, making it a highly sought-after spot to live in Seattle. Once its own independent town (incorporated in 1902), West Seattle was annexed by Seattle five years later, but it still retains a sense of its own identity with a strong community feel.

West Seattle is home to some of the city’s most beloved outdoor spaces, including the popular Alki Beach Park, where locals and visitors enjoy sunbathing, volleyball, and taking in stunning views of the Seattle skyline. Lincoln Park, another neighborhood gem, offers miles of waterfront trails, picnic areas, and outdoor swimming in Puget Sound. In fact, West Seattle’s location along Elliott Bay and Puget Sound means residents are treated to beautiful saltwater beach parks, plus breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains to the west and the Cascade Range to the east.

Nature lovers will appreciate that one-third of Seattle's green space and urban forest is located in West Seattle, much of it within the West Duwamish Greenbelt, the largest contiguous greenbelt in the city. Whether you're hiking, biking, or simply taking a stroll, West Seattle offers a perfect balance of outdoor recreation and laid-back living. With its stunning scenery, friendly community, and easy access to both nature and the city, it’s no wonder West Seattle is a favorite among locals.
